This is not a real “international brand” is more of a “bundle of brands” for which the holder requires recognition in one or more foreign countries.
The registration of a mark may be extended beyond national borders through appropriate application for each country of interest, with a recording locally, it is also possible to ask for a single international registration, the “International trademark” protection in some or in all countries which adhere to the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol.
The elements of these agreements have significance only for the countries that acceded to and allow you to get the same degree of protection in them. The institute is managed by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) that through the award of a record date, issue a certificate to the applicant and the public simultaneously within its Official Bulletin. This registration is valid for 10 years and can always be renewed. It must be stressed that this is not a unique brand but a “bundle of national brands” subject to the laws of each country in which it is registered.
